About SGWEN
Scout & Guides Wadi El Nil (SGWEN) boasts a remarkable legacy as the oldest and largest Scout Movement in Egypt. With a rich history dating back to its establishment in 1933, SGWEN has been serving the community with unwavering dedication for an impressive 90 years, making it a true cornerstone of scouting in the region.
As part of the World Organization of Scout Movement (WOSM), SGWEN aligns with global scouting values and principles, contributing to a worldwide network of scouts. Operating across Egypt, SGWEN is organized into five regions, encompassing 23 active groups in the bustling cities of Cairo and Alexandria.
The strength of SGWEN lies in its diverse membership, which spans generations. With over 2,000 active members on the ground and an additional 1,000 elders and leaders both in Egypt and across the globe, SGWEN’s reach extends far and wide.
What sets SGWEN apart is its inclusivity. From the tender age of 3 to adulthood at 35, SGWEN members participate actively in various initiatives, emphasizing community service and engagement. Throughout the year, SGWEN members diligently serve the Egyptian community, making a positive impact in numerous facets of society.
